'Weird Al' Yankovic

Personal context

Summary

“Weird Al” Yankovic is a comedy musician, writer, and actor known for song parodies, musical pastiches, and the film UHF. His work often turns pop hits and everyday subjects such as food, television, and grammar into comic material, and he has described most of his music as family-friendly. Though he has generally shied away from political humor, he called Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” a gay-rights anthem and directed proceeds from his parody “Perform This Way” to the Human Rights Campaign; he also appeared in the 2016 political parody “Bad Hombres, Nasty Women.” No ongoing advocacy role or public partisan affiliation is on record.
