The show often asks viewers to accept creatures and people who are treated as strange or dangerous. Several stories criticize fear of outsiders and support peaceful cooperation between humans and magical groups. Season two briefly shows a lesbian couple getting engaged in the background. These ideas support inclusion, but they do not control the main plot.

The show often makes city officials, safety groups, and public rules look mistaken or unfair. The story especially questions official fear of trolls and other magical creatures. The criticism stays inside the fantasy world and does not become a repeated modern attack on family, religion, capitalism, or traditional society.

A few online commenters complained that Trolberg looks more diverse than they expected from a Scandinavian-style setting. Other comments complained that the show has many strong female characters and fewer male heroes. The complaints directly mention diversity and gender balance. The reaction was small and did not become a major news controversy.

Luke Pearson has no clear record of identity-politics activism. The writers and most producers have low or minimal political track records. Megan Ferguson has supported women in animation. Bryan Korn has supported access and education programs, but this context is only a minor signal beside the show itself.
