Mouse

Mouse is a dark South Korean crime mystery about Jung Ba-reum, a kind rookie police officer who works with hot-headed detective Go Moo-chi. Moo-chi survived a childhood attack that killed his parents, and he wants revenge on the serial killer behind it. The case grows from a hunt for a murderer into a question about genes, brain surgery, memory, and whether a person can change. The show uses brutal murders, long twists, hidden identities, and a grim science-fiction idea to create a tense and sad tone.

Ba-reum’s story centers on nature, choice, guilt, and the need for a killer to face what he has done. Female characters have important jobs and help solve the case, but their roles serve the crime plot rather than a campaign about identity. The show gives a fictional debate about testing unborn children for violent traits, then follows the damage caused by that idea. The later episodes focus on Ba-reum’s hidden crimes, his altered mind, the people he hurt, and the painful limits of justice. The result is a violent psychological thriller whose social questions come from crime, science, and punishment rather than current activist politics.
