2017–2018 · Based on 2 seasons through September 17, 2018 ·
Salvation follows Liam Cole, an MIT student who discovers that an asteroid will hit Earth in six months. He joins tech billionaire Darius Tanz and Pentagon official Grace Barrows to find a way to save humanity. The group hides the danger while building a rail gun, a solar sail, and a secret ark. The show mixes science fiction, government secrets, romance, conspiracy, and political suspense.
The show has a visibly mixed cast, including women and ethnic-minority characters in important government, science, and technology jobs. Those choices are noticeable, but the story does not make identity or representation a main subject. The show criticizes secret government plans, powerful families, private military groups, and political abuse. Its main message is about survival, trust, science, sacrifice, and the danger of giving too much power to a few people.

Creator track record context
Elizabeth Kruger and Craig Shapiro have made female-led shows with diverse and LGBTQ characters. Alex Kurtzman has a stronger public record of speaking about diversity and inclusion in entertainment. The other listed creators and writers show little clear activist or identity-focused history. The current show itself only partly reflects that background.
