2016–2018 · Based on 3 seasons through November 21, 2018 ·
Stan Miller is a rude former sheriff who loses his job soon after his wife dies. He lives in Willard's Mill, a New Hampshire town cursed by spirits tied to old witch burnings. New sheriff Evie Barret needs Stan's hidden knowledge and his late wife's tools to fight the curse. The show mixes bloody monster attacks with fast jokes, grief, and a growing friendship.
Evie is a skilled female sheriff who often proves Stan's sexist views wrong. Their clash over his old views is a repeated joke and a mild theme, but demons and personal loss drive the plot. Denise briefly flirts with a female government agent in season 3, though the show does not build a queer story from it. The main bond stays between Stan and Evie as equal partners who learn to trust each other.
