2022 · Based on 1 season, 6 episodes through November 9, 2022 ·
Zootopia+ returns to the busy mammal city from the 2016 film. The show tells six short stories instead of one long plot, and each story follows a different side character. Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde appear around the edges while parents, wedding guests, police workers, a small thief, and restaurant customers take the lead. The stories involve a child on a train, a family wedding, a criminal seeking a better life, a police dance contest, and a server racing to a concert. The tone stays bright, silly, and fast, while the fourth story gives a warmer and more serious history of the city.
The clearest social message appears in the fourth short, where Mr. Big arrives as a poor newcomer from the old country. Larger residents call his family vermin and tell them to know their place, while the story says that Zootopia was not made for everyone. Mr. Big responds by building a family business, creating jobs, and helping make Little Rodentia a home for small mammals. The final short briefly shows Bucky and Pronk as a married male couple, but their relationship is not the point. These ideas appear in isolated moments, while most of the season focuses on family, work, friendship, romance, and comedy.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Zootopia+.
Woke representation / casting
Not present. The show uses animated mammals, so human race and ethnicity are not visible in the story. The many species and varied voices serve the animal city. The show does not present them as a diversity campaign.
0%
Woke political dialogue
Mr. Big describes his family as newcomers who face a city that was not made for everyone. Larger residents call the small shrews vermin and tell them to know their place. The episode answers this treatment with community, jobs, and a home for people in need. The message mainly stays within one short.
27%
Identity-driven story themes
One full episode centers on an immigrant family that faces exclusion because of its size and background. The story connects belonging with family, chosen friends, and community support. A married male couple appears briefly in the final episode, but their relationship is not central. The other shorts focus mostly on family, work, crime, romance, and comedy.
31%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Episode 4 says the city was not made for everyone and shows larger residents abusing newcomer shrews. The story responds with family businesses and a new neighborhood. The story does not attack a named government or Western institution. The police, marriage, and family life otherwise appear normal or helpful.
15%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The shorts add side stories and backstories. The show does not make an identity-based change to an established character or to the original story.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. Public discussion focuses on humor, side characters, short length, and continuity. No clear title-specific complaints accuse Zootopia+ of pushing woke, DEI, or identity politics.
0%
Creator track record context
The directors and story supervisor have low context scores and mainly work in animation and story development. Jennifer Lee has a moderate context score tied to girl-focused stories and diverse voices. Jared Bush has a higher score because he has publicly stressed diversity in Disney storytelling. Byron Howard is openly gay but has no strong activist record. Nathan Curtis has no high-confidence activist record.
