Firefighter Kim Ja-hong dies while saving a child and wakes in a huge afterlife ruled by courts and strange gods. Three guardians, Gang-rim, Hae Won-maek, and Deok-choon, must defend him through seven trials in forty-nine days. Ja-hong seems like a perfect man, but each trial reveals hard choices, family pain, and secrets from his life. The film mixes giant fantasy battles with tearful family drama and dark jokes.
The story follows Ja-hong's struggle to earn reincarnation while his guardians face attacks linked to his younger brother Soo-hong. The trials judge murder, laziness, deceit, injustice, violence, betrayal, and harm toward parents. Ja-hong's poverty and guilt explain why he stayed away from home, while his mother's quiet forgiveness gives the final case its emotional force. The film treats family duty, sacrifice, mercy, and the results of human choices as its main ideas.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds.
Woke representation / casting
Not present. The main cast is Korean in a South Korean story, and the three guardians fit the fantasy setting. The movie does not present their gender or identity as a diversity statement.
0%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The dialogue focuses on trials, family duty, guilt, and justice. It does not push modern identity or activist ideas.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
Not present. The story centers on family sacrifice, repentance, forgiveness, and reincarnation. It does not make race, gender, sexuality, or current identity politics part of the main conflict.
0%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. The afterlife courts judge one man's actions, and the living-world plot includes a military cover-up. These events serve the fantasy plot and are not a modern critique of Western institutions, gender roles, or family life.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The film changes the webtoon by making Ja-hong a firefighter and combining roles, but those changes do not involve race, gender, sexuality, or an identity message.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. The assigned X pass found no anti-woke reaction. Wider reviews and audience posts focused on fantasy, emotion, effects, pacing, and adaptation, with no reliable anti-woke complaint pattern.
0%
Creator track record context
Kim Yong-hwa has a recurring interest in outsiders, disability, appearance, and family hardship. Those ideas appear in mainstream drama and comedy rather than a clear activist program. Ju Ho-min and most of the producers have no strong public record of DEI or identity campaigning. The creator group therefore adds a mild context signal, but it does not make this film identity-driven.
