Akash is a pianist living alone in Pune who pretends to be blind so he can focus on music and win a place in a London contest. Sophie helps him find work at her father’s restaurant, where a former film star hires him to play at home. Akash arrives and finds the star dead, while the star’s wife Simi and her lover try to hide the murder. The mistake pulls Akash into a chase through apartments, streets, hospitals, and criminal schemes, with sharp jokes and a dark, uneasy tone.
Akash’s claimed blindness drives the film’s lies, danger, and surprise, because his fake disability helps him enter the murder scene and hide what he knows. He is not a simple hero because he lies about his sight and later makes hard choices to survive. Simi is a major and dangerous woman, but her power comes from greed, betrayal, and self-protection. The story focuses on crime, desire, guilt, money, and the question of whether any character deserves trust.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Andhadhun.
Woke representation / casting
Not present. The main cast is Indian and the story is set in Pune, so the cast fits its story world. The blind pianist role drives the plot, but the film does not present it as a diversity message. The other prominent roles are defined by crime and personal choices.
0%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The movie has no speeches or repeated lines about modern identity politics, DEI, or activist causes. Its dialogue mainly builds suspense, humor, and deception.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
Not present. The plot follows murder, lies, greed, and survival. Akash’s blindness creates suspense, but the story does not turn it into a rights campaign or identity lesson. Simi’s power is part of a crime plot, not a repeated message about women replacing men.
0%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. The movie shows a corrupt cop and an illegal organ doctor, but it does not connect them to modern criticism of Western institutions, patriarchy, Christianity, capitalism, or traditional social norms.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The film expands a French short into an Indian crime story, but it does not make a race, gender, sexuality, or leadership swap with an established character.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. Reviews and social posts mostly praised the twists, cast, and humor. No sustained anti-woke complaint, boycott, or DEI backlash was found, and the supplied X pass found none.
0%
Creator track record context
Sriram Raghavan has publicly supported women speaking about abuse and has described a later war film as anti-war. The other listed writers, producers, and casting director have little public record of activist or DEI work. Andhadhun itself uses their crime and suspense style, so this context is mild and indirect.
