Miles Lee Harris is a bored video game developer who spends his free time trolling people online. The film takes place in a near-future city where Skizm streams live death matches to internet viewers. After Miles insults the wrong audience, criminals bolt two pistols to his hands and force him into the game. Miles must stay alive, find his kidnapped ex-girlfriend Nova, and face Nix, the game's most skilled killer. The film uses loud jokes, fast edits, crude language, drugs, and very bloody action in a dark comic-book style.
The film treats online cruelty and the pleasure of watching violence as its main social warning. Miles starts as a smug bully who hides behind a screen, then learns that real people suffer when he treats them like posts. Nix begins as his enemy, but her anger at Skizm's boss turns her into an uneasy ally. Their final attack is driven by revenge and survival, while the ending shows that Skizm may continue after its leader dies.
