Dan and Lisa are a married couple whose careers and relationship have both fallen apart. They travel to Dan’s remote family cabin in upstate New York and pretend that the trip will help them reconnect. Dan plans to kill Lisa and make her death look like an accident, while Lisa brings her own plan to kill Dan. The dark comedy turns into a bloody fight when escaped killers and a corrupt prison guard arrive at the cabin.
Dan and Lisa begin as selfish, angry people who lie to each other and treat murder as a way out of a bad marriage. Their traps keep failing, and the danger forces them to work together against people who are more experienced and more violent. The film uses sharp insults, sexual jokes, extreme gore, and sudden changes from marriage comedy to home invasion action. Its main idea is that the couple can only repair their bond after facing the damage they have caused and choosing to forgive each other.

0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
A tiny faith-oriented trailer account gave the film a “Woke-Free Score” of 5/10, which signals mild concern rather than a full attack. A small right-wing account praised the film as a throwback and contrasted it with “trash and propaganda” in other movies. A public X search found no boycott, review-bombing push, large-account pile-on, or organized anti-woke campaign. One viewer called a Juliette Lewis moment a “forced bi scene” while praising the film, so that comment does not show a real backlash.
