Jonathan Kent is an 11-year-old boy who learns that his father is Superman and that he has powers of his own. He meets Damian Wayne, Batman's proud and highly trained son, when an alien called Starro takes control of the world's adult heroes. The boys travel from Smallville and Gotham to the Justice League base in space to save their fathers and stop the invasion. The movie mixes bright family humor with creepy mind control, fast fights, and a warm story about two rivals becoming friends.
The film briefly shows the usually white, red-haired Jimmy Olsen as a black reporter, but he has little effect on the main plot. Jon and Damian win by trusting each other, using their different skills, and choosing to protect their parents. Clark and Lois are shown as loving parents, while Bruce tries to guide a son who was raised as an assassin. The story supports family duty, personal courage, friendship, and learning to use power well.
