Dear Basketball follows Kobe Bryant from a six-year-old boy with a dream to become a Los Angeles Laker to an adult star facing the end of his career. He rolls his father’s tube socks into a ball and takes pretend shots in his room. The story moves through years of practice, big games, injuries, and the joy of reaching the NBA. Kobe must accept that his body cannot keep taking the strain, so he says goodbye to the sport that shaped his life. The short feels proud, personal, warm, and sad.
The film treats basketball as a loved one that gave Kobe purpose, work, and a place to chase his dream. Kobe’s words thank the game for both the good and bad moments, while the hand-drawn images place his younger and older selves together. The story praises discipline, memory, and the courage to leave one life behind when it is time. Its final images suggest that the boy who dreamed of basketball can carry that same hunger into a new life as a storyteller.

Creator track record context
Kobe Bryant’s supplied creator score is 52/100 because he strongly supported women’s sports and youth programs. Glen Keane’s supplied score is 9/100 and reflects a craft-first career. The three listed producers have supplied scores of 0/100. Interviews about this title describe a personal sports farewell, so this remains weak background context.
