Dear Santa follows Liam Turner, a polite sixth grader who still believes in Santa. Liam lives with his parents in a new town after the family suffers a painful loss. His dyslexia leads him to send his Christmas letter to Satan instead of Santa. Jack Black plays the devil as a silly, friendly visitor who offers Liam three wishes for his soul. The movie mixes school comedy, family sadness, Christmas magic, and dark jokes.
Liam's dyslexia causes the letter mix-up and makes him a target for jokes at school. His best friend Gibby helps him face bullies. His crush Emma gives him a reason to be brave. His parents' grief creates the main family problem. The movie treats kindness, honesty, and giving to others as stronger than wishes or power, while Satan changes more than Liam does.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Dear Santa.
Woke representation / casting
Not present. The movie places Liam in a mostly white family with a black best friend and an Asian American crush in a present-day school. These choices appear as ordinary parts of the setting, not as a repeated diversity message.
0%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The movie has no recurring speeches about politics, race, gender, or activism. Its main talk concerns wishes, family trouble, school, Christmas, and the devil.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
Not present. The story uses dyslexia, grief, friendship, and kindness as personal parts of Liam's life. It does not turn them into an identity-politics campaign or a call for social action.
0%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. A teacher mocks Liam and his parents struggle after a family death. The movie treats these as personal problems, not as a broad attack on schools, men, family life, Christianity, or Western institutions.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The movie is an original fantasy about a child, a playful Satan, and a Christmas wish letter, rather than an identity-driven change to a known story or historical event.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. The supplied X pass found no meaningful anti-woke reaction or specific complaints. Web reports found religious objections to the Satan premise, but those complaints were not about woke, DEI, or identity politics.

Creator track record context
Bobby Farrelly has supported authentic disability casting and wider screen representation. Dan Ewen helped create Clean Slate, a show about a black transgender woman, with a queer, trans, and POC writing team. Peter Farrelly and Ricky Blitt have no strong activist pattern in the cached profiles. This gives the creators mild woke track record context, but the film itself is not framed around that work.
