Movie review
Slade Wilson lives two lives in this violent animated DC movie. He works as the assassin Deathstroke, but he also tries to be a husband and father to Adeline and their son Joseph. After his secret work and an affair break his family apart, the terrorist group H.I.V.E. takes Joseph and uses his mind powers. Slade must fight the Jackal, Rose, and H.I.V.E. while facing the damage caused by his own choices. The tone is bloody, dark, and fast, with a strong family drama under the action.
The film has little direct woke content, but it includes a short female empowerment thread. Adeline says that being a wife and mother made her lose her center, and she returns to her old combat role beside Slade. The film also changes Rose Wilson from the more familiar Ravager role into the H.I.V.E. Queen, a major villain and group leader. These choices add gender-role and canon changes to the family revenge story, but the movie does not build its main plot around modern identity politics. Its main themes remain guilt, broken trust, family loyalty, and making up for past wrongs.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Deathstroke: Knights & Dragons - The Movie.
Woke representation / casting
Not present. The movie uses a mixed voice cast and gives women important roles, including Adeline, Lady Shiva, and Rose. Those choices fit the modern comic-book setting and are not framed as a diversity or empowerment campaign.

Woke political dialogue
Adeline says that being a mother and wife made her lose her center, and she says that she found it again. Jackal also says that marriage and motherhood made her soft before she returns to combat. The exchange gives a brief gender-role message inside the family drama. The movie does not repeat the point as a wider political speech.
24%
Identity-driven story themes
Adeline’s story briefly treats family roles and personal identity as something a woman can outgrow. The film gives her military training and lets her fight beside Slade. Rose also becomes the head of H.I.V.E., but her power comes from revenge and mind control, not from a lesson about women. These ideas matter to the family plot, but they are not the movie’s main theme.
28%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Adeline challenges the idea that marriage and motherhood made her weak, and she rejects staying only in a home role. The story gives her military training and lets her fight beside Slade. That creates a brief challenge to traditional gender roles. The movie does not attack Western institutions, Christianity, or men as a group.
18%
Woke character or canon changes
The film changes Rose Wilson from her usual comic role as Ravager into the H.I.V.E. Queen. The new role makes her a central villain and the leader of a terrorist group. The change supports the family revenge plot, and the film does not present it as a gender or diversity message. The other origin changes mainly compress events or alter plot details.

Anti-woke backlash and complaints
One IMDb user review called the movie woke and objected to Adeline’s strong independent woman treatment. The complaint focused on her repeated criticism of Deathstroke and her large role in the story. Reddit fans mostly complained about lore, pacing, gore, and character motives instead. The separate X pass found no anti-woke campaign or meaningful volume.

Creator track record context
Producer Greg Berlanti has a strong public record of LGBTQ representation in other projects. Sarah Schechter has worked on inclusive CW shows, but her role was mainly oversight. George Pérez had mild left-leaning political activity, while the other listed creators show little strong identity-activist history in the available context. The creator background gives a moderate signal, but the movie itself does not carry that focus.
