Little Monsters follows Dave, a broke musician who has just lost his girlfriend and moves in with his sister and young nephew, Felix. Dave joins Felix's kindergarten trip because he wants to get close to Miss Caroline, a warm teacher he likes. A zombie outbreak from a nearby U.S. military base traps the class at a farm and leaves the adults trying to protect the children. The movie mixes bloody fights, rude jokes, songs, and a sweet story about Dave learning to care about other people.
Miss Caroline is a black woman who becomes the main protector, leader, and moral example for the class. She keeps the children calm, fights the zombies, and guides Dave while he starts as a selfish and foolish man. The story repeatedly makes her the most capable adult and presents her as a strong female action hero, while Dave must learn from her before he earns a happy ending. The film also places her in a romance with a white man and includes children from different backgrounds, but it gives no sustained speech about race, gender politics, or queer identity.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Little Monsters.
Woke representation / casting
Miss Caroline is a black woman who becomes the film's main protector and moral leader. She shares the main romance with a white male lead, although the story does not discuss race. She keeps children calm, teaches the adults, and fights zombies. The producer said the film aimed to place a person of color in a role often imagined as a white singing teacher. The director also presented her as a feminine action hero for children today.
56%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The movie uses dialogue about childcare, zombies, crude sex jokes, and personal change. The movie does not use modern identity, DEI, or activist ideas in its spoken lines.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
Miss Caroline leads the children with calm skill and fights zombies when the adults fail. Dave starts as selfish, crude, and foolish, and he must learn from her before he becomes useful. The story repeatedly gives her the moral authority and the strongest heroic work. The film places a black female action hero at the center, but Dave later saves people and receives his own redemption.
53%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Dave's selfish and crude behavior is treated as bad masculinity that he must outgrow. Teddy McGiggle turns male entitlement into a running joke through sexual boasting and selfish treatment of children and women. The U.S. military test causes the outbreak, and the army plans to bomb the site even while children remain inside. The movie keeps these ideas in a comic zombie story instead of building a full attack on Western culture.
39%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The movie tells an original story about a zombie outbreak. It does not change an established character, source story, or real historical event.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. The reviewed Reddit, news, and audience reports do not show complaints that the film pushes woke, DEI, or identity politics. The separate X research found no boycott, review-bombing, or anti-woke reaction.

Creator track record context
Abe Forsythe has a cached score of 20/100, based mainly on his earlier satire of racism and the Cronulla riots. Bruna Papandrea and Jodi Matterson have cached scores of 32/100 and 29/100 from women-centered and diversity work. Kimberly Hardin has a cached score of 47/100 from long-term work to open roles for Black performers. The other listed creators have low scores, so the team gives a mild background signal rather than a strong activist pattern.
