Identity-driven story themes
The main story themes are universal and apolitical, focusing on work-life balance and appreciating loved ones. However, a supporting character's time-travel backstory is tied directly to her finding her identity as a lesbian. Since this sexual identity plot point is confirmed, it elevates this category with a minor identity-driven theme.
20%
Western institutional / cultural critique
The film does not critique Western cultural institutions, traditional families, or patriarchy. The main character's neglect of his wife is framed as a personal, comedic flaw of putting things off rather than a systemic critique of male entitlement or toxic traditional gender roles.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The movie is an original romantic comedy and does not adapt or alter any established historical figures, legacy franchises, or canon characters.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
There have been no notable anti-woke complaints or political backlash against this movie. Viewers and critics did not see the movie's casting or queer subplot as activist propaganda, treating it as a standard and light-hearted film.
0%
Creator track record context
The collective track record of the creative team shows very few woke or activist signals. Directors Matt Toll and Ruby Lennon, casting director Nikki Barrett, and writer Josh Lawson maintain professional, apolitical careers. While producers Gabrielle Joosten and Josh Pomeranz have supported regional or Indigenous media, the overall group score remains very low.
