Vera Roy is a young mother who lives with her husband, David, and their daughter in Spain. During a violent electrical storm, she uses an old television and camera to speak with Nico, a boy who lived in the house 25 years earlier. Vera warns Nico about a deadly event, but her good act changes the present and erases her daughter from her life. She must solve a murder and repair the broken timeline before the storm ends. The movie has a tense, sad, and twist-heavy tone.
The story gives most of its attention to Vera’s motherhood, her work as a neurosurgeon, and her fight to restore her family. The film also asks how a person can know who she is when her memories and loved ones no longer match the world around her. Vera makes hard choices, takes serious risks, and receives help from a police inspector as she follows the clues. The movie presents love, memory, chance, and the cost of changing the past as personal problems rather than as a current political cause.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Mirage.
Woke representation / casting
Not present. The main cast fits a modern Spanish thriller, and the movie does not make race, sexuality, or diversity a visible casting message. Vera’s medical role and the female police roles fit the modern setting.
0%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The dialogue centers on the murder, the storm, time travel, family, and personal choices. References to the Berlin Wall and the 2001 attacks mark the timeline and do not push a current political idea.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
Vera’s struggle over who she is after her memories and family vanish is a clear recurring theme. The film presents her as a practical, highly skilled neurosurgeon who drives the search for answers. The story also gives strong weight to a mother’s bond with her child. These ideas serve the personal time-travel and family drama, and they do not become a current identity or activist message.
18%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. The film shows adultery, murder, police doubt, and family loss as plot problems. It does not blame a Western institution or attack traditional family life through a modern activist message.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. Mirage is an original story, not an adaptation or a new version of an established character or historical figure.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. The supplied X research found no anti-woke complaints. Web and audience discussion mainly praises the twists or calls the film confusing, and one small Reddit list treats it as a not-woke recommendation. No sustained complaint campaign about DEI, identity politics, or activist content was found.

Creator track record context
The supplied records give Oriol Paulo a score of 19 and show support for gender equality and strong female leads. Sandra Hermida has 26, while Lara Sendim has 20 and mainly writes genre stories with a newer queer project as a limited signal. Producer Laura Rubirola is higher at 62 because of her work with a gender and LGBTQ group, while the other producers and casting directors are low or moderate. This gives mild creator track record context, but it does not show a strong activist profile for this film.
