Rob is a quiet man who lives alone in the Oregon woods with his truffle pig. He once was a famous chef in Portland. When strangers beat him and steal the pig, he goes back to the city with young food buyer Amir to find her. The film is slow, sad, and soft, more about pain and care than action or revenge.
The movie is really about grief, friendship, and the few things worth loving. Rob hunts for his pig while facing old memories of his late wife and a fake, showy restaurant world. The big talks are about real cooking, selling out, and what people value. A normal viewer sees a quiet drama about loss, not identity politics or social-justice messaging.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Pig.
Woke representation / casting
Main faces are Cage, Alex Wolff, and Adam Arkin. Supporting roles include a black fight-club boss and other Portland faces, but nothing looks like quota-first casting or identity showcase leads. Diversity feels ordinary and unemphasized, not the point of the film.
3%
Woke political dialogue
Talk is about love, grief, cooking, and fake fancy food status. Rob’s big restaurant speech knocks pretension and living for people who do not care about you. It is not race, gender, queer, or DEI activist speech a viewer would tag as woke politics.
5%
Identity-driven story themes
The spine is a man who lost his wife and then his pig, and what still matters. Themes are loss, care, and honesty over status. Race, gender identity, and modern activist identity politics are not the story’s engine.
0%
Western institutional / cultural critique
The film lightly mocks snobby restaurants, status chasing, and selling out your real dream for money and praise. That is industry satire and personal regret, not a lecture on patriarchy, whiteness, colonial guilt, or traditional family and faith as the enemy.
22%
Woke character or canon changes
Not present in this title.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
No clear anti-woke or right-leaning campaign treated this film as DEI or identity propaganda. Reaction was praise for Cage and the quiet grief story.
0%
Creator track record context
Cached crew scores are mostly very low. Scola is 8. Most producers sit near 0–6. Cohen at 28 is the higher mark for past BBC gender-panel rules, not a strong woke identity for this title overall.
