My Son follows Edmond Murray, a father who has spent much of his time abroad for work and has grown distant from his family. Edmond returns to the Scottish Highlands after his seven-year-old son, Ethan, disappears from a campsite. He joins his ex-wife Joan and the local police, but the search soon points to a kidnapping and a wider child-abduction ring. The film has a cold, tense, and violent thriller tone as Edmond follows clues through rough mountain roads and small local towns.
Edmond's guilt over being an absent father shapes his choices as he tries to bring Ethan home. Joan faces the same fear while the two parents struggle to work together after their marriage ended. The case grows into a child-abduction ring, and the search leads to threats, torture, killings, and a violent rescue. The film asks how far a grieving parent may go before the search for justice turns into revenge.

Anti-woke backlash and complaints

Creator track record context
Christian Carion's past work includes the humanist anti-war film Joyeux Noël. Producer Rebecca O'Brien has a stronger socialist and class-focused film record. Producers Isabel Davis and Brahim Chioua have credits linked to transgender and LGBTQ themes, but those credits do not show a personal activist pattern. This background gives the film a mild context signal, while the film itself does not carry those themes.
