One Mile: Chapter One follows Danny Beckett, a former Special Forces soldier who wants to repair his broken relationship with his daughter, Alex. The two travel to visit colleges, but a stop in the wilderness turns dangerous when a violent off-grid community kidnaps Alex. Danny uses his military skills to find her and fight his way through the group. The tone is grim, violent, and focused on survival, family, and revenge. The film does not make modern identity politics a main part of its story. A college scene shows rainbow flags, but the film does not build a major LGBTQ plot around them. The main social issue is the cult’s plan to control women and use them for forced childbirth. That idea shows abuse and male control, but it is part of the villain’s horror story rather than a clear modern activist message. The story mainly presents a protective father, a daughter in danger, and a violent survival battle.
