Paul Berger is an unemployed man who has lost his job and his fiancée, and he feels stuck in a dull, lonely life. He joins a secretive spiritual retreat called Let’s Get Pure after its promise of a fresh start catches his attention. The retreat sits in a remote wooded place, where Paul meets Maggie and other troubled guests under the control of strange leaders. The movie mixes sad romance, awkward comedy, fantasy, and body horror.
Each guest drinks a foul mixture that leads to a small creature appearing, and each creature reflects the pain and fear that person carries. Paul learns that caring for his creature means facing his grief, shame, and self-doubt instead of hiding them. His growing bond with Maggie gives the story a gentle love story, while the retreat’s rules turn personal healing into a dangerous test. The main ideas are emotional honesty, human connection, and the risk of trusting a promise that claims to fix a broken life.
