Erin and eight former high school friends meet for a camping trip in a remote forest. Their old science teacher drugs them and straps timed explosive vests to their chests. The group learns that killing another person transfers that person's remaining time. The night becomes a bloody fight built on guilt, jealousy, cheating, and the death of a former classmate.
The clearest identity element comes when Bobby says he is bisexual after Peterson threatens to expose private photos. The group reacts with crude jokes, and the threat helps drive the group into the deadly game. The film also presents Rian as a brilliant former valedictorian and Erin as the quiet survivor who becomes dangerous. These ideas stay inside the survival plot, while the story mainly focuses on selfishness, revenge, violence, and the collapse of old friendships.
