David Tennant

Personal context

Summary

David Tennant is a Scottish actor and producer best known for Doctor Who, Broadchurch, Good Omens, Des, and a wide range of stage roles, including Shakespeare. His screen work spans science fiction, crime, comedy, and historical drama, often moving between heroic and morally complex characters. He has repeatedly supported LGBTQ+ people: he has spoken against anti-gay bullying, worn trans-rights messages and fundraising symbols, and publicly criticised the demonisation of trans people; in 2024 he told then equalities minister Kemi Badenoch to “shut up” while accepting a British LGBT Awards ally award. He also voiced a Labour Party election broadcast in 2010.
