Hugh Grant

Personal context

Summary

Hugh Grant is an English actor known for romantic comedies such as Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, and Love Actually, as well as later dramatic roles in A Very English Scandal and The Undoing. His performances often pair dry comic timing with characters whose charm masks vanity or self-interest. Outside acting, he gave evidence to the Leveson Inquiry and campaigned with Hacked Off for press reform. In 2019 he campaigned for tactical voting against a Conservative majority; in a 2024 interview, he criticized both Trump and what he called “woke censorship” by the left. No public statements on identity politics, DEI, or identity-based activism are on record.
