Darius Bowman leads the Nublar Six, a group of young adults who survived Jurassic World’s dinosaur disasters. After a friend appears to die while investigating illegal dinosaur smuggling, the group reunites and follows clues across several countries. The friends must survive trained dinosaurs, dangerous criminals, and a conspiracy linked to the Biosyn preserve. The show uses a tense mystery tone and adds grief, friendship, romance, and care for dinosaurs.
The clearest woke element is the ongoing romance between Sammy Gutierrez and Yasmina Fadoula. Their relationship appears early, breaks apart while they deal with trauma and distance, and returns in the final season when they say they love each other and kiss. The show also makes Brooklynn a major investigator who loses an arm and uses an artificial one, while Yaz studies ways to help people with dinosaur fears. These identity and representation choices affect the characters, but they do not replace the main story about dinosaurs and survival.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Jurassic World: Chaos Theory.
Woke representation / casting
The six main friends form a visibly diverse group, and three young women hold major roles in the mystery and survival story. Darius is the group’s main leader, so the show does not make its women the only source of competence. Brooklynn has a visible missing forearm, and the role was voiced by an actor with the same limb difference. The showrunner also said that authenticity, representation, and inclusion mattered in that casting choice.
40%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The characters discuss dinosaurs, trauma, and criminal plans, but they do not give recurring speeches about modern identity politics or DEI.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
Sammy and Yaz are a visible romantic couple across the series. Their relationship faces distance and trauma, breaks up in the middle seasons, and returns with a love confession and kiss in season 4. The show treats their relationship as normal and gives it a continuing emotional subplot. Brooklynn’s limb difference and Yaz’s PTSD add stories about disability and trauma, but the main plot remains dinosaur survival.
42%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. Biosyn, the dinosaur black market, and corrupt officials are villains, but the show does not turn that conflict into a broad attack on Western culture, family life, religion, or traditional gender roles.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The series adds new events to the Jurassic story and changes relationships from the earlier show, but it does not recast an established character around a new race, sex, or identity.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
A few small accounts called the show woke because Sammy and Yaz are a queer couple in a children’s series. Tiny posts called it queer or identity indoctrination and used boycott hashtags. Larger boycott posts mostly targeted Camp Cretaceous and only sometimes named this sequel. There was no clear review-bombing drive or major news campaign.
16%
Creator track record context
Scott Kreamer and Zack Stentz have low to mild political backgrounds. Most of the listed directors, producers, and writers also have little or moderate activist context. Writer Nick Rodriguez has a stronger queer and identity-focused record, and Kreamer has spoken about representation and inclusion in Brooklynn’s casting. The recurring Sammy and Yaz story gives that context some support.
