2019 · Based on 1 season, 8 episodes through October 18, 2019 ·
Living with Yourself follows Miles Elliot, a tired ad writer whose job and marriage have stalled. He pays $50,000 to a secret spa that promises to make him a better person. The treatment creates a cheerful new Miles and leaves the old Miles buried in the woods. The two men fight over Kate, Miles's work, and the life they once shared. The show has a dry, strange tone, with short episodes and serious moments about regret and change.
The main message asks whether a person can become better by cutting away the parts of life that hurt. Kate's frustration with Miles's selfish behavior gets a full episode and gives the marriage conflict more weight. The story shows how a man can avoid hard work, hide behind a happier copy, and still face his choices. A town vote about a phone company deal appears in one episode, but it serves the plot rather than a larger political message. The ending turns the strange rivalry into an unusual family problem involving Kate's pregnancy.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Living with Yourself.
Woke representation / casting
Not present. The main cast centers on Paul Rudd's two Miles roles and Aisling Bea's Kate. Supporting roles include Desmin Borges, Alia Shawkat, Zoe Chao, and Karen Pittman. The show does not frame these casting choices as a diversity or identity message.
0%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. Characters discuss an ad campaign and a local vote on a phone company deal. The talk helps the work plot and does not become recurring activist, identity-based, or left-wing political dialogue.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
Not present. The season centers on Miles's view of himself, his marriage, trying to have a baby, and the wish to become a better person. Miles and Kate's problems come from grief, selfish choices, and a strange cloning treatment. The story does not make race, sex, queer identity, or representation a main theme.
0%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Miles repeatedly ignores Kate's plans to have a baby, spends their savings without asking, and expects her to accept his failures. The show gives Kate a full episode to show how his selfish behavior damaged their marriage. The spa owners also say they use fake accents because customers treat them better when they seem less like people, which briefly points to racial prejudice. These ideas stay inside a personal story and do not become a broad attack on men, family, or Western institutions.
18%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. Living with Yourself is an original Netflix series. It does not adapt a known character, franchise, book, or real historical figure.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. The supplied X pass found no anti-woke reaction or specific complaints. Web coverage and audience posts discussed the clone premise, Paul Rudd's performance, the ending, and the show's odd humor, not woke or DEI messaging.

Creator track record context
Greenberg has a stored score of 18/100 from his work on The Daily Show and Wyatt Cenac's Problem Areas. Faris and Dayton have stored scores of 30/100, while most listed producers and casting directors have stored scores in the low range. The creator context gives the title mild progressive background, but it does not strongly predict identity-driven content here.
