2020 · Based on 1 season, 6 episodes through March 9, 2020 ·
McMillion$ follows FBI agent Doug Mathews as he chases a fraud hidden inside the McDonald's Monopoly promotion. The scam began in the 1990s and reached across Florida, Georgia, and other parts of the United States. Former security worker Jerry Jacobson stole high-value game pieces and passed them to a network of helpers. Interviews, old ads, court records, and staged FBI videos give the six episodes a funny, strange, and sometimes sad true-crime tone.
Gloria Brown, a black single mother, becomes one of the most personal parts of the case as the series shows how she was pulled into the fraud and pressured over her prize. The interviews also follow FBI agents, McDonald's workers, recruiters linked to the mob, and people who took part without seeing the full plan. The main themes are greed, trust, crime, money pressure, and the harm caused to ordinary workers and families. The series questions whether cheating a huge company is victimless, while its humor stays beside the pain of people caught in the scheme.
