2022– · Based on 5 seasons through January 22, 2026 ·
Shoresy follows a foul-mouthed hockey player who moves to Sudbury, Ontario, to save the struggling Blueberry Bulldogs. He promises team owner Nat that the club will never lose again, then becomes a player, captain, and later a coach. The team fights through injuries, sex jokes, league trouble, and a challenge from a European squad that threatens the North American style of hockey. The show mixes crude comedy, hard fights, romance, music, and warm stories about loyalty, friendship, and growing up.
The clearest woke elements are the repeated use of women as the people in charge of a men's hockey world. Nat owns and runs the team, Miigwan and Ziigwan help her, and other women control league decisions, sports coverage, and Shoresy's personal life while the men often act foolish or needy. Season 4 names toxic masculinity and discusses women's hockey, while season 2 includes a gay night at a local bar with queer sexual talk. The women-in-charge pattern lasts through all five seasons, but hockey, male friendship, sex humor, and local Canadian identity remain the main focus.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Shoresy.
Woke representation / casting
Nat is a woman who owns and runs a men's senior hockey team, and Miigwan and Ziigwan help run it. Women also fill the main sports reporter and league authority roles. The show repeatedly makes female authority visible, which is unusual for a men's hockey story. The many First Nations players and officials fit the Sudbury setting and are shown as normal local people. The score comes mainly from the repeated female-leadership pattern.
38%
Woke political dialogue
Season 4 gives the junior players a clear talk about toxic masculinity, pressure on boys to act tough, anti-femininity, and homophobia. The boys mock those terms, but the show still makes them part of the players' training. Season 5 returns to the question of whether hockey has a culture problem before Nat defends the good side of the sport. These lines appear in several later episodes, but they serve the hockey story rather than becoming the show's main subject.

Identity-driven story themes
The show repeatedly places women in charge of a men's hockey world. Nat owns and runs the team, Miigwan and Ziigwan help her, and women run league hearings and sports coverage. The men are often childish, sexual, or unsure while the women provide answers and set limits. Season 4 makes this pattern part of talks about boys and hockey, and season 5 makes Nat key to saving the team. Hockey, friendship, and local pride remain the main story.
58%
Western institutional / cultural critique
The show names toxic masculinity and anti-femininity while the older players talk to junior players about male behavior. It mocks male ego and sexual bragging, but it also celebrates toughness, fighting, and male loyalty. Season 5 directly rejects the claim that hockey culture is simply bad and presents the team as a force for community. The show does not attack Christianity, family, or Western institutions, so the critique stays limited.
29%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The spinoff expands Shoresy from Letterkenny into a lead character. It does not change an established character's race, sex, sexuality, or identity.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. No major anti-woke complaint or boycott was found. A Daily Caller review praised the show as “anything but woke,” while other viewers criticized season 5 for defending hockey culture too strongly.

Creator track record context
Cached context gives Jared Keeso a 21 score and Jacob Tierney a 49 score. Producer Kaniehtiio Horn has a cached score of 65 because her work strongly centers Indigenous representation and cultural accuracy. The other listed directors, writers, producers, casting staff, and script supervisor mostly have cached scores from 0 to 28. The title therefore has a mixed but mostly low creator track record.
