2023 · Based on 1 season, 8 episodes through March 16, 2023 ·
Wolf Pack follows four California teenagers after a huge wildfire brings a deadly wolf creature into their lives. Everett Lang struggles with severe anxiety, while Blake Navarro cares for her younger brother during a painful family split. Twins Harlan and Luna Briggs were raised by park ranger Garrett and already know that they can become wolves. The teens form a pack while arson investigator Kristin Ramsey searches for the cause of the fire. The show mixes bloody horror with teen drama and mystery.
The show gives Harlan, one of the four main heroes, an open gay identity and a same-sex romance that returns across the season. The first episode shows him kissing a boy, and later episodes build his bond with Cyrus. Luna also has a romance with Austin, while the pack story stresses belonging, family, and trust. The show treats anxiety, medicine, phones, and isolation as major parts of its teen story.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Wolf Pack.
Woke representation / casting
The show places a biracial teen with anxiety in the central group. The story also gives a Latino family and several people of color visible roles. Jeff Davis said that showing a biracial teen with anxiety was important. The modern Los Angeles setting makes the overall mix plausible, so the identity emphasis is present but not dominant.
25%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The characters talk about anxiety, family problems, and the wildfire. They do not deliver recurring speeches about politics, activism, or public policy.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
Harlan is one of the four central teens and is openly gay. The first episode shows him kissing a boy, and later episodes develop his attraction to Cyrus. Luna has a recurring crush and romance with Austin. The show treats Harlan's sexuality as a normal part of the pack, so the identity message is clear even though the werewolf mystery remains the main plot.
45%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. Police and parents create obstacles, but the show does not frame them as a modern attack on men, family, religion, capitalism, or Western institutions.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The show changes parts of Edo van Belkom's book setup, but those changes serve the mystery and family plot. No established character or real figure is changed for identity politics.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
A few small X accounts called Wolf Pack woke or complained that a same-sex scene pushed an agenda. One viewer said they quit after the gay scene in episode one and wanted content tags. These posts came from small or anonymous accounts and had almost no engagement. No large boycott or review-bomb campaign was found.
12%
Creator track record context
Jeff Davis has a documented LGBTQ advocacy record and queer-focused creative history. Krystal Houghton Ziv has supported underrepresented writers and more diverse writing rooms. Christian Taylor has also promoted LGBTQ representation through past projects. Most other listed writers and directors have little public activist record.
