Beckett is a spoiled house cat who lives with Rose, a caring student who rescued him. Rose studies bees and works to protect them. Beckett becomes jealous when Rose’s former boyfriend returns to help with her work. After Beckett loses his ninth life, a magical gatekeeper sends him back in new animal bodies. The bright family comedy follows his strange trips and his slow change from selfish pet to loyal friend. The film gives Rose an important science role, but it does not build its story around identity politics. Her bee research supports an environmental message rather than a woke political campaign. Beckett’s main lesson is that love, duty, and selflessness matter more than comfort. The film includes a female lead with useful skills and a male character who causes trouble, but the story mainly focuses on animal lives, jealousy, grief, and personal growth.
