Action Point follows D.C. Carver, a reckless owner of a run-down amusement park in the late 1970s. A newer corporate park takes his customers, while a lawyer pressures him to sell the land. D.C. tries to save Action Point with dangerous rides and wild stunts as his teenage daughter, Boogie, spends the summer with him. Their strained relationship gives the rough comedy a small family story. The film uses crude jokes, beer, sex, injuries, and physical gags, so its tone is loud, messy, and often mean.
The story treats freedom and personal responsibility as better than strict safety rules. D.C. complains that lawyers, modern parents, and the “nanny state” would never allow his park to exist. The new park acts as a polished corporate rival, while D.C. and his friends stand for loose rules and reckless fun. Boogie forces D.C. to face his selfish choices and become more involved as a father. The family arc matters, but the film keeps returning to stunts, danger, and crude jokes.

Creator track record context
The director and writers have little public activist history and are mainly known for comedy and satire. Knoxville has supported some Democratic candidates, but his work is mostly stunt comedy. Producer Bill Gerber has praised diversity and strong female leads. Casting director Theo Park has spoken for more diversity in casting. These signals are mild and do not drive the story.
