Sasha is a skilled rock climber and kayaker who is still crushed by guilt after a storm in Norway forces her to cut her husband free so she does not fall too. Months later she drives into remote Australia to scatter his ashes and test herself alone in the wild. A friendly local named Ben points her toward a quiet campsite, then turns the trip into a deadly hunt with a crossbow and cruel traps. The movie is a short, hard survival thriller full of cliffs, rapids, caves, and raw physical fear.
The story stays locked on grief, endurance, and a cat-and-mouse fight with a sick killer. Sasha uses real outdoor skill and quick thinking to stay alive, not slogans or social lessons. Ben is a cannibal predator, not a walking speech about modern politics. Viewers mainly see a tough woman trying to outlast a madman and make peace with a terrible past.

Anti-woke backlash and complaints
A small number of online comments label the film girl-boss, man-hating, or white-man-bad Netflix fare, often aiming at Theron more than the script. There is no large, organized anti-woke campaign or sustained news fight about the movie pushing DEI or identity politics.
12%
Creator track record context
Theron as star and producer brings a known feminist public profile. Robbins and most producers sit lower on activist history. Kormákur’s known work leans toward craft and cultural inclusion, not hard identity politics. For this title the crew’s overall activist signal is mild.
