Blue Iguana

Katherine is repeatedly shown as the brains of the operation, and she recruits the two male ex-cons for the first job. She keeps control with legal knowledge, threats, and plans while Eddie and Paul often act foolishly or need her direction. She has the diamond, guides the rescue plans, and stays ahead of several male gang leaders. Eddie still has a major romance arc, so the gender pattern is important but not the whole story.

The film repeatedly makes traditional male toughness look foolish through Deacon’s boastful violence and the other men’s poor choices. Katherine often has more control than the men, which gives the story a mild challenge to old gender roles. The movie does not attack Christianity, family life, capitalism, or Western institutions.

One IMDb user review called the film feminist and complained that Katherine is the smartest character while the men are treated as dopes. That is a direct complaint about gender messaging, but it comes from one viewer rather than a large campaign. The supplied X check found no anti-woke complaints, and no major news controversy was found.

The supplied creator context gives the key creators scores from 0 to 13. It describes Sam Rockwell as mildly liberal and humanist, without a sustained activist or DEI persona. Title interviews present the movie as a retro crime and comedy project, not as an identity campaign.
