Duck Duck Goose follows Peng, a reckless young goose who wants to fly alone and show off. When he crashes into two ducklings and breaks his wing, he must travel on foot with Chi and Chao. The trio crosses the Chinese countryside while a hungry, strange-looking cat chases them. The movie uses bright scenery, slapstick jokes, mild danger, and a warm family tone.
Peng begins by treating the ducklings as protection from predators, but the journey makes him care for them and accept responsibility. The clearest identity-related message is a short defense of male caregiving, since Peng becomes a protective parent figure and the film treats that role as normal for a male character. The story also favors family, friendship, teamwork, and staying connected to a group over selfish freedom. Those ideas shape the ending, but they are presented as broad family lessons rather than a political campaign.
