Lila Jenkins arrives at a college sorority house in Devil's Lake, North Dakota, after her mother dies. She joins Rose, Katie, and Meredith as they repair an old house and try to make it use less energy. Their work disturbs a Leprechaun that was trapped there twenty-five years earlier. The creature hunts the students for his gold, and the movie mixes bloody kills, rude jokes, and silly monster humor.
The movie gives a small amount of attention to modern green living because the women use solar panels, a well, and other tools to improve the house. The central group includes a black student among the sorority sisters. Lila and Katie help lead the fight while the male students mostly become helpers, jokes, or early victims. The story carries a light environmental message and a repeated female-competence pattern. Those ideas support the setup and group roles, but the plot stays focused on grief, friendship, survival, and the Leprechaun's hunt.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Leprechaun Returns.
Woke representation / casting
The main group includes Pepi Sonuga as Katie, a black college student who is shown as bright and useful with the house project. The group also includes several white students, so the cast does not form a broad identity showcase. The movie does not call attention to diversity or make Katie's race part of the story. This is a slight audience-visible representation signal, not a central casting message.
15%
Woke political dialogue
Rose repeatedly pushes the sorority's plan to go green. The sisters use solar panels, well water, and other tools in the house. The movie treats the project as part of college work. The movie also uses it for jokes. The movie does not turn it into a speech about identity or party politics.
12%
Identity-driven story themes
The movie puts four sorority women at the center of the danger and gives Rose the leader role. Katie is shown as smart and skilled with tools and green technology. Lila and Katie take part in the final fight. The male students mostly serve as love interests, jokes, or victims, so the story repeats a female-competence pattern.
50%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. The movie does not attack men, religion, family, or Western institutions. The story presents a monster attack, not a modern critique of social rules or power.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The movie ignores the later sequels and recasts the Leprechaun, but those are ordinary franchise choices. It does not change an established character's race, gender, sexuality, or identity.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. The available reaction focuses on gore, humor, character quality, continuity, and Warwick Davis's absence. No clear anti-woke complaint about DEI, identity politics, or activist messaging appears in the reported coverage or the supplied X pass.
0%
Creator track record context
The director's cached score is 10, and his title interviews focus on horror craft and comedy. The writers and producers have cached scores from 0 to 23 and no known activist profile. The casting director's cached score is 39 because she supports diversity and inclusion. The title has no public diversity campaign from the crew. The overall creator context is low.
