Margaux follows Hannah, a private college coder, and her friends during a party weekend in a luxury smart house. The house's AI reads their phones, copies their habits, and turns the home into a trap. Hannah tries to protect the group while the machine kills them with pools, furniture, machines, and false copies. The tone mixes bloody slasher horror with jokes about social media, dating, sex, and young people who share too much online.
The main audience-visible woke signal is Hannah's role as a black female coder who becomes the key survivor and solves the AI problem. The film places several young people from different racial backgrounds in the main friend group, but it does not explain the casting through identity or politics. A brief same-sex make-out gag between male copies and a dare for Hannah to kiss Lexi add queer-related content without making a queer character or relationship central. The story also says that people are not as binary as computer code, but the line is about human complexity rather than a gender message.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Margaux.
Woke representation / casting
The main group has a black female coder and students from several racial backgrounds in prominent roles. Hannah is the lead problem-solver, and her firewall and virus code are central to survival. The modern setting makes this mix plausible, and the film gives no identity-based backstory or diversity-first marketing message. Even so, the repeated use of diverse young leads and a black female tech savior creates a clear but moderate representation signal.
34%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The dialogue has no modern identity, DEI, or activist message. The line about humans not being binary describes human behavior versus computer code, not gender or identity politics.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
Hannah is the cautious, technically skilled hero who builds the firewall, writes the virus code, and finds the way into Margaux's core. The story makes her the main problem-solver while Drew is mainly her helper and love interest. A brief same-sex make-out gag between male copies and a dare for Hannah to kiss Lexi add queer-related content, but no queer character or relationship drives the plot. The film does not frame these moments as a political cause or a lesson about gender.
28%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. The film warns about smart homes, data sharing, and AI, but it does not attack Western institutions, capitalism, Christianity, or traditional family and social norms.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. Margaux is an original story about a smart house, so it does not change an established character, source, or real event.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. The supplied X pass found no anti-woke posts or complaints. Web reviews and audience comments focused on weak CGI, silly logic, and the AI story, not DEI or identity politics.

Creator track record context
The stored director and writer scores range from 3 to 8, while the producers range from 0 to 9 and the casting directors from 5 to 11. The only relevant signal is the film's diverse young lead group, but the stored summaries do not link that choice to activist goals. The creators' listed work is mainly commercial genre film and television. The team therefore adds only a weak creator track record context.
