Mean Dreams follows Jonas Ford, a quiet farm boy, and Casey Caraway, a teenage girl who moves next door with her father. They live in a lonely rural part of northern North America, where work, family trouble, and distance limit their choices. Casey's father, Wayne, is a sheriff who beats her and uses his badge to frighten people. After Jonas sees Wayne kill drug dealers and take their money, the two teenagers run for their lives. The film shifts from a shy first romance into a tense crime chase with a dark, sad tone.
Their escape becomes a test of trust, courage, and survival as the adults around them fail to protect them. Jonas often takes the lead, but Casey makes a final armed choice against her father. Casey also says that God may be a made-up idea used to keep people good, which is a brief rejection of religion. The film keeps its attention on first love, family abuse, police corruption, and the wish for freedom.

Not present. The X check found no anti-woke complaints. Reviewed news and audience coverage discussed the thriller plot and acting instead of woke or DEI messaging.
0%
Creator track record context
Nathan Morlando and the two writers have low cached woke scores and no known activist pattern. Some producers have modest scores because of later work linked to queer or black-led stories. Those projects do not show that Mean Dreams itself was made around identity politics. The overall creator track record context is low.
