Money Trap follows Asım Noyan, an Istanbul con man who leads a small gang of skilled tricksters. His daughter Nazlı has cut ties with him because she hates the illegal work that supports his life. On her wedding day, Nazlı and her future husband lose their money in a phone scam. Asım brings his crew back together and faces Saruhan, a wild leader in the illegal betting world, in a fast and silly crime comedy.
The film builds its story around lies, greed, loyalty, and the bond between a father and daughter. Nazlı pushes her father to stop cheating people, but her family crisis pulls her into his world. Asım uses old tricks to protect her, while the men behind the scams turn the city into a chain of traps. The movie treats crime as comic chaos, while the family bond gives the tricks a warmer side.

Creator track record context
Yılmaz Erdoğan often writes about class, social change, local identity, and ordinary people. He has also written strong women and has said that women’s freedom is tied to everyone’s freedom. His work often gives space to local or less powerful communities. His public record is mainly that of a mainstream comedian and filmmaker, not an organized DEI or queer-rights activist. This background matters as context, while Money Trap itself centers on scams and family.
