Scoob! follows Scooby-Doo and Shaggy from their first meeting on Venice Beach to their years with Mystery Inc. Fred, Daphne, and Velma join them after the children solve a fake ghost case. The friends later split when an investor says that Scooby and Shaggy weaken the team. Dick Dastardly hunts Scooby because the dog can open a gate to the Underworld and release the three headed Cerberus. The story moves through city streets, a flying superhero ship, and strange worlds, so the movie becomes a loud action comedy instead of a small haunted house mystery.
Dee Dee Skyes has a major heroic role as the Falcon Fury's pilot, engineer, and planner. She is a black woman who often seems more capable than Blue Falcon, while Velma serves as the team's brain and Daphne helps hold the group together. Velma uses the phrase toxic masculinity during a short joke about two male characters fighting. The movie presents friendship, loyalty, and teamwork as answers to fear, pride, and self doubt. The identity and gender ideas are easy to see, but they remain side elements in a fantasy rescue story.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Scoob!.
Woke representation / casting
The movie presents Dee Dee Skyes as a black woman who pilots, repairs, and plans missions for the Falcon Fury. Dee Dee plays a major part in the rescue story and often seems more capable than Blue Falcon. The movie also uses Gina Rodriguez as Velma and gives Ken Jeong and Tracy Morgan major hero voices. The story shows diversity and female competence, but it does not make race itself a conflict.
36%
Woke political dialogue
Velma calls a brief fight between male characters “toxic masculinity.” Fred jokes that he knows superhero facts but not the metric system because he is an American man. These lines use modern gender language for comedy. The film contains no longer political speech or debate.
24%
Identity-driven story themes
Dee Dee is a black female hero who manages the ship's flying and technical work. Velma is the smart investigator, and the women receive clear expert jobs while Blue Falcon often seems unsure. The story treats male pride and male fighting as jokes in a few scenes. These ideas appear around the team, but friendship and teamwork remain the main focus.
29%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Blue Falcon acts like the boss, but Dee Dee does much of the real work while he struggles to lead. The film labels a short fight between male characters “toxic masculinity.” These moments question male pride and older hero roles. The movie does not attack religion, capitalism, government, or Western culture as a whole.
24%
Woke character or canon changes
The movie changes established Dee Dee Skyes from an older supporting role into a black female pilot, engineer, and planner who largely runs the Falcon Fury. The film also changes Scooby's family line and adds a supernatural backstory, but those changes do not carry identity messages. Interview coverage connects Dee Dee's stronger role and new design with diverse representation for black girls. The change updates one supporting hero through identity focused choices, but it does not drive the main plot.
27%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
A few audience reviews and fan posts objected to Velma's “toxic masculinity” joke and called it a political message about men. Those complaints were scattered and usually appeared beside general complaints about the messy plot. The X research pass found no anti-woke reaction, boycott, or review-bomb push for this movie. Mainstream coverage did not show a large woke controversy.

Creator track record context
Tony Cervone has a stored score of 35/100 because he confirmed Velma as lesbian in a different Scooby-Doo series. Chris Columbus has a stored score of 28/100 based on public disagreement with J.K. Rowling over transgender issues. Dan Povenmire has a stored score of 15/100 from mild Pride-related posts. The other stored writer and producer scores are low, so the background signal is mild.
