Bird Island hero Red and the pigs led by Leonard form a reluctant team after ice-lava weapons from Eagle Island threaten both homes. New villain Zeta wants livable land, and Chuck’s sister Silver helps take apart the weapon. Side plots cover Red’s fear of losing his hero role, Mighty Eagle’s old engagement to Zeta and their daughter Debbie, and hatchlings recovering eggs. The tone is slapstick family comedy with teamwork, romance, and big action set pieces.
On screen, Silver is a star female engineer who often outthinks the male team, and Zeta rules as the main female island leader and villain. Voice roles also include Garry as a tech inventor, Courtney as a named female pig, and Debbie. Marketing cast Silver as a girls-in-STEM role model through Ad Council She Can STEM ads, and climate ActNow PSAs used the ice threat. The story itself is mostly friendship and teamwork, not identity-politics drama, with only mild get-along messaging across former enemies.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for The Angry Birds Movie 2.
Woke representation / casting
Fantasy birds and pigs soften ethnic mismatch talk, but the cast choices still stand out. Silver is a star female engineer who often beats the male team. Zeta leads as the main female ruler and villain. Marketing also sold Silver as a girls-in-STEM model, so the pattern is clear without a full quota takeover.
39%
Woke political dialogue
Most talk is about teamwork, jokes, ego, and friendship. The film does not push racism lectures, gender quotas, or DEI slogans. Press talk about common ground is outside the script more than inside it.
12%
Identity-driven story themes
The main story is a team fight against a conqueror who hates her icy home. Silver’s engineer path and STEM marketing give an identity-adjacent thread. Climate and unity notes stay mild and mostly sit in marketing or soft get-along themes.
30%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. Red’s hero worries and Eagle’s past failures play as personal growth jokes. The film does not attack faith, traditional family systems, capitalism, or conservative institutions. The romance and marriage ending stay conventional.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Game Silver was a goofy looping falcon raised by pigs. The movie remakes her as Chuck’s sister and a brilliant engineer love interest for Red. That shift leans STEM empowerment, not a race or queer rewrite of a real-world figure.
24%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. No meaningful anti-woke campaign treated this film as propaganda.
0%
Creator track record context
Most directors, writers, and producers score low on activist history. Elizabeth Ito is the main elevated credit for representation-forward kids work. She is one voice in a large commercial animation room, not the whole film’s politics.
