Dan Morgan is a former assassin who now runs a private security business and tries to keep his family close. He takes his wife Jessica and their children to London for Christmas because their oldest daughter Nina cannot come home. A secret half-brother named Finn forces Dan into a bank robbery and chases the family through London and Paris. The film mixes gunfights, car chases, rooftop parkour, family jokes, and arguments about children growing up.
Nina’s boyfriend Omar is a French-Moroccan chef, DJ, and parkour expert who joins the family’s escape and is later accepted by Dan. Nina and Omar also connect the action plot to a short climate protest against an oil company. The protesters say the company puts profit before people and the planet, chant for a climate revolution, and target the boss’s private plane and yacht. The film later sends money from Dan’s grandfather’s criminal accounts to Greenpeace, but the main story still centers on family loyalty, forgiveness, and Dan learning to let his children make their own choices.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for The Family Plan 2.
Woke representation / casting
Omar is a French-Moroccan character played by Reda Elazouar. The actor said the role was first written as French-Algerian and that he asked to make Omar Moroccan so he could represent his country. Omar is a prominent helper who joins the rooftop action, but his identity fits a modern London setting. Jessica’s athletic role is tied to her past as a decathlete, so it does not add a separate identity message. The casting signal is noticeable but limited.
18%
Woke political dialogue
Nina and Omar lead a street protest against a fictional oil company. Nina says big oil puts profit before people and the planet, while protesters chant “Stop oil pollution” and “Climate revolution.” Nina later says she sent money from Dan’s grandfather’s accounts to Greenpeace. The political lines are clear, but they are limited to one short action sequence and the ending.
33%
Identity-driven story themes
Nina and Omar are shown attending marches and wanting to change the world. Their climate protest becomes the distraction that helps the family attack Finn’s criminal network, and Nina gives money to Greenpeace at the end. The film treats this activism as good, but the thread stays short. The main story centers on family loyalty, forgiveness, and growing independence.
22%
Western institutional / cultural critique
The film criticizes a fictional oil company for putting profit before people and the planet. Protesters mock its rich boss, who uses a private plane and yacht, and call for a climate revolution. Nina’s Greenpeace donation supports the same message. The rest of the institutional conflict concerns a private crime network and police pursuit, so the critique stays brief.
25%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The sequel continues Dan, Jessica, Nina, Kyle, and Max without an identity-based rewrite.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
A few small right-leaning X accounts called the film “woke AF” and complained that Omar felt inserted because of his Muslim or ethnic background. Similar isolated comments questioned his place as Nina’s boyfriend. No major news coverage, boycott, hashtag, or review-bombing campaign centered on these complaints.
12%
Creator track record context
The stored creator context gives the director, writer, producers, and casting team low woke scores. Their work is mainly commercial action, drama, horror, family, and franchise entertainment. Mark Wahlberg’s stored context also points to patriotic work and opposition to celebrities bringing politics into entertainment. Title interviews focused on family and action, not a social campaign.
