Jack Ryan is a former CIA man who left spy work for a desk job in New York. His old friend James Greer pulls him back for a simple pickup job in Dubai that turns deadly. Jack teams up with CIA ally Mike November and MI6 officer Emma Marlow. They face a rogue black-ops unit tied to secret programs built after 9/11. The film is a fast spy action thriller set in Dubai and London with chases, bombs, and hard trust tests.
Jack and his friends must stop Liam Crown, a burned black-ops soldier who tries to stir up terror so dirty programs look needed again. Greer faces his past role in building those teams. Emma fights beside Jack in the field and helps track hidden files while a car bomb kills the CIA director in London. The story ends with loyalty tests, a final fight in Dubai, and Greer asking Jack to step back into power at the agency.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War.
Woke representation / casting
The film keeps series leads Greer and CIA Director Elizabeth Wright in high posts and adds Sienna Miller as a tough equal MI6 partner. Director talk sells Emma as the franchise’s first true female equal who can “challenge Jack.” Some reviews call her a stock badass with near-super skills. That is a light, clear pattern of strong women and diverse leaders in big jobs, but the cast still reads like a modern spy team, not a full identity showcase.

Anti-woke backlash and complaints
A small number of social posts label the movie DEI or Amazon “DEI crap,” including claims Clancy would hate it. These posts have little reach and no major news wave. Most public talk is about bland action and TV-movie feel, not a wide anti-woke campaign.

Creator track record context
Key writers, director, and producers have low cached woke scores. Krasinski and Clancy sit near the bottom. The team is known for thriller and franchise work, not identity-first projects.
