Casey Affleck is an actor, writer, director, and producer known for Manchester by the Sea, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, and the experimental film I’m Still Here. His directing work includes stories about family, survival, and performance. In 2018, he said women in Hollywood had long been underrepresented, underpaid, and mistreated, described himself as a supporter of the #MeToo conversation, and said his production company aimed to help filmmakers whose stories were underrepresented. He also accepted responsibility for contributing to an unprofessional set environment on I’m Still Here and apologized; he has no widely reported record of party campaigning or broader identity advocacy.
