Letterkenny

The main engine is still farm problems, fights, and language comedy, not pure social-justice plotting. Queer positivity and total social tolerance still run through the whole series as structure. Katy is queer without a coming-out arc, Roald's gay life is ordinary Skid life, Ron and Dax bond and wed with the hockey bros, Glen's closeted-preacher bits play as comedy, and acceptance is the default moral line. LGBTQ volume raises the score, but identity is ensemble texture rather than the series premise.

The progressive stance on institutions and culture is soft but real. Hard Right Jay frames tiki-torch and alt-right politics as the enemy the whole town unites to thrash. Closed-mindedness is mocked and poly, swinger, and queer sexual norms are treated as normal. Christianity shows up mainly as comedy through poorly closeted preacher Glen. Wayne stays a traditional male farm hero, rural life is celebrated, and fights and crude Sally insults remain, so the critique is anti-intolerance rather than anti-whiteness, anti-capitalism, or colonial-guilt thesis.

There was no major mainstream campaign calling the show too woke, DEI, or a gay agenda. Some fringe online noise claims a rural show was made progressive, but that is not a sustained culture-war fight. Some conservative-leaning fans still like it for the humor. The anti-woke complaint record stays thin and non-defining.

Cached scores put Keeso at 7 as primary writer and star with rural Listowel authenticity and no activist record. Tierney sits at 41 as queer co-creator and director of essentially all episodes with later Heated Rivalry work. Casting scores include Jenny Lewis at 30 and Sara Kay at 13, with other directors and producers around 6 to 7. The overall package is a low activist track record with a moderate Tierney queer imprint, not a DEI activist shop.
