Not Suitable for Work

Not Suitable for Work follows five ambitious people in their twenties who live across the hall from one another in Murray Hill, Manhattan. AJ starts an investment banking job, while Abby works for a demanding celebrity stylist. Kel wants to act, Davis works in finance, and Josh enters television news through his wealthy father. The show mixes light romance, workplace jokes, friendship problems, and messy career choices. The first season ends with a love triangle involving AJ, Josh, and Davis, while Abby and Kel remain uncertain about their futures. The clearest social themes come from Josh, who presents himself as a social justice-minded young man while benefiting from his family’s power. The show also jokes about sexual harassment training, male behavior, dating rules, and teenage girls who treat morality as a serious test. Women often appear more sensible or capable, while some men seem clueless, entitled, or immature. The story criticizes nepotism, finance culture, and male entitlement, but it treats these issues as comedy and character flaws. These ideas appear several times, but they support a romantic workplace comedy instead of controlling the whole story.
