Wade Wilson is a former soldier who works as a hired fighter in a present-day city. He falls in love with Vanessa and then learns that he has cancer. A cruel treatment gives him healing powers but scars his face and body. Wade takes the name Deadpool and hunts down Ajax, the man who hurt him and took Vanessa. The film mixes fast action, graphic violence, sexual jokes, and direct jokes to the audience. Deadpool makes jokes that hint at attraction to men, including a line about fondling Wolverine to get his own movie. His main relationship stays with Vanessa, and his search for her and revenge against Ajax drive the story. Deadpool jokes about whether it is sexist to hit a woman villain. Angel Dust fights Colossus, and Negasonic helps fight her, giving women fighter roles in the final battle.
