Extra Ordinary follows Rose Dooley, a lonely driving teacher in rural Ireland who can see and move ghosts. She gave up those powers after an accident killed her father, who once helped spirits cross into the next world. Rose meets Martin Martin, a widowed woodwork teacher whose dead wife still attacks him and his daughter Sarah. A washed-up rock singer then targets Sarah for a Satanic sacrifice, so Rose returns to ghost work in a dry, silly horror comedy.
The film makes Rose the main ghost expert and the person who leads the rescue, while Martin is soft-spoken, clumsy, and often needs her help. Rose also gets the final choice in the romance, and she rejects Martin's first marriage proposal instead of being rewarded with a standard love story. These choices give the movie a clear message that women can lead and have the key skills, but that message stays inside Rose's personal story. The film's main themes are grief, guilt, letting go of the past, ordinary life, and the foolish search for fame.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Extra Ordinary.
Woke representation / casting
Not present. The main cast fits a small Irish town with an American rock star. Rose is a woman because she is the lead character, but the film does not present her casting as a diversity or identity campaign.
0%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The jokes and talks center on ghosts, sex, fame, grief, and family. No character gives a modern speech about race, gender politics, DEI, or social activism.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
Rose is the film's main ghost expert, and she leads the rescue of Sarah. Martin is kind but clumsy, and he often needs Rose to explain or control the supernatural danger. Bonnie remains a forceful wife who still controls Martin after death. This repeated pattern gives the story a clear message that women can be the skilled ones, although it stays inside a silly personal story instead of becoming a political campaign.
42%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. The film mocks a greedy rock star, Satanic rituals, and small-town superstition. It does not turn those jokes into a message against men, Christianity, family life, or Western institutions.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The film is an original story with no established character, real person, or historical event that is changed for identity reasons.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. The supplied X pass found no anti-woke reaction, and wider searches found no credible complaint that the movie pushes DEI or identity politics. Audience comments mainly discuss its humor, gore, and pacing.

Creator track record context
The directors have no clear activist track record, and their interviews describe a strange rural Irish comedy made to entertain. The film's title interviews also describe Rose as a normal woman with ghost talents, not as a diversity symbol. Producer Katie Holly has supported female creative training, while other producers have links to Irish identity or social-issue documentaries. These are background signals, and the film itself is not framed as an activist project.
