These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway.
Woke representation / casting
The movie has a standard family cast in a modern setting. David Oyelowo plays a prominent role as the human publisher Nigel. However, the casting is normal for a modern movie and does not look like forced diversity. There are no obvious identity-driven roles or representation priorities that override the needs of the story. The characters are cast to fit their roles naturally.

Woke political dialogue
The film has almost no political or activist lines. There are no social justice lectures or modern political debates. A very minor joke occurs when Benjamin thinks Peter is in love with a male rabbit named Barnabas. Benjamin says Peter does not have permission to kiss a thief. This is a simple misunderstanding joke and does not serve as a political message.

There are no identity politics, gender studies, or social justice themes in the main narrative. The themes are simple lessons for children.
5%
Western institutional / cultural critique
The movie pokes fun at big corporations and greedy publishers who want to commercialize Bea's books. This is a meta-parody of how Hollywood adapts classic stories. It is standard cartoon satire about a greedy businessman. There is no modern activist critique of capitalism, traditional family structures, or Western culture. The main characters happily start a traditional family.
