Phoebe and Max are twins with superpowers. Their whole family fights crime as superheroes. After one save goes wrong, the Thundermans get sent back to their old town of Hiddenville. The parents like the quiet life. The younger kids want normal school. Phoebe and Max want their hero jobs back. New trouble from villain kids forces the family to work together and prove themselves again.
The movie is a light, silly kids comedy about a superhero family that bickers but learns to team up and stop bad guys. The story focuses on powers, moving home, school life, and saving the day with jokes and cartoon action. There are no political talks, no lessons about identity or social issues, and no push to make representation the point of the story. Viewers see a standard Nickelodeon-style family adventure with a laugh track.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for The Thundermans Return.
Woke representation / casting
The main family has some mixed ethnic backgrounds, with the mom having Latino ancestry and one son presenting similarly. The supporting cast includes black and Asian actors in smaller roles. This diversity is visible but incidental and not presented as a special point or identity focus in the story or marketing.
12%
Woke political dialogue
There is no political talk, activist lines, or social justice messaging in the dialogue or jokes.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
The plot centers on superheroes losing status, returning home, facing villain kids, and the family learning to work together using their powers. It has no themes about race, gender, sexuality, or identity politics.
0%
Western institutional / cultural critique
The movie does not frame authority figures, family roles, or Western culture through activist lenses. The president character and villains serve standard plot functions in a fun, cartoonish way.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. This continues the same characters and world from the earlier series with no identity-driven changes or reinterpretations.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
There are no notable complaints or backlash claiming the movie pushes woke, DEI, or identity politics ideas.
0%
Creator track record context
Most writers, directors, and producers have very low or zero scores and work in standard family television. Kira Kosarin's higher personal record as star and producer raises the factor slightly, even though the movie shows no activist influence.
