Simon is a divorced father who takes his twelve-year-old son Finn to a farmhouse in rural Vermont. Simon plans to repair and sell the house, but he also hopes to rebuild his bond with Finn. Finn is guarded and rude at first, while Simon tries to act stronger than he feels. The spirit of Lydia, a former owner, grows stronger as they fix the building and tries to keep them there. The movie uses quiet scares, family pain, and a sad, serious tone.
The only clearly political moment appears at the start, when Finn's mother worries about school shootings, bad news, and the current president. The short talk gives the film a mild present-day political tone, but it does not drive the plot. Most of the story follows father and son as they face guilt, online danger, divorce, death, and the need to tell the truth. The broken house reflects the damaged family. The main message is about love, regret, and trying to repair a home before it is too late.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for The Witch in the Window.
Woke representation / casting
Not present. The visible cast centers on a father, mother, son, female ghost, and local men. The movie does not make race, diversity, or identity a point of the casting.
0%
Woke political dialogue
Finn's mother briefly links her fear for him to school shootings, bad news, and the current president. The scene adds a mild present-day political tone. The talk lasts only at the beginning and does not return as a main subject. The father and son then focus on the house, the ghost, online material, and their family problems.
14%
Identity-driven story themes
Not present. The story follows a father, son, broken marriage, and haunted house. It does not build its conflict around race, gender, sexuality, or group identity.
0%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. The film shows fear about school shootings, bad news, and internet material, but it does not attack Western institutions, Christianity, or family life. The main conflict comes from a ghost and personal mistakes.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The movie is an original haunted-house story with no established character, franchise, or historical figure being changed.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. The separate X pass found no anti-woke reaction or named complaints. Other audience discussion focuses on horror, pacing, family drama, and the ending. One vague comment mentions an agenda, but it does not tie that complaint to woke, identity, or left-wing content.
0%
Creator track record context
Andy Mitton's cached profile centers on grief, family, death, isolation, and supernatural belief. His cached public comments include anger at people who rejected masks, science, and group safety during the COVID-19 pandemic. That is a mild public-health political signal, but no substantial cached record shows DEI advocacy or identity-driven work.
